What happened at the hardware store...?

Cry of the taniwha- Chapter 8

While they were at the hardware store, JacksonPeters or Juzza stole, or tried to steal,  a pear of loppers to cut free a tree root in the Wakarewarewa district. Fortunately his new friend Mat Logan returned the lopers and paid for them without hesitation.
